We arrived at 10:00am (three of us) for breakfast to eat before our Tough Mudder event at 1:00pm about 30 minutes north of Barrie. We had to wait for at least 10 minutes for service and after we ordered at least 25 minutes until the breakfast came. At least, our waitress said twice, please apologize for the wait. The food was Ok.
I just walked out of this place after waiting a half an hour for my simple bacon and egg breakfast which never came. They took my order when I sat down, poured me a coffee and never came back to even see if I wanted a refill while I was patiently waiting. I was alone so what really got to me was a couple who sat down after me had already been served their meals. I walked up to the counter and told the waitress that I was not going to stay and just want to pay for my coffee. She ignored me and yelled into the kitchen to cancel my breakfast then walked away. She was rude and obnoxious. There were 2 waitresses on shift which seemed sufficient for the relatively small number of tables. Never going back.
Andy's Place is located in an industrial plaza, walking distance from the Barrie Best Western hotel. Standard basic breakfast / lunch diner menu. (Lunch menu does include a couple of souvlaki choices ... pork / chicken souvlaki with rice and Greek salad, $12.99 / $13.99 respectively... the most expensive items on the menu.) Basic but clean dining ambiance (tables only, no booths.) I dropped in for an early breakfast. The polite waitress on duty was also the cook. She made a really good "loaded" omelette.. onion, ham, mushrooms, tomato, green peppers, celery and cheese... $10.99 including toast and really good home fries. Coffee was at best OK, not memorable. Overall... not a "must go to" restaurant; a good basic breakfast lunch diner with reasonable prices. Additional note for those so inclined... LLBO licensed for beer and coolers; very limited choices.
Basic diner in a strip mall in BarrieNot much to look at, but the food is pretty good and service is fast and friendly.
