Barrie Burger on Dunlop St W is a curious mixture of minimal diner fare and minimal burger chain ambiance. Seating is functional and crowded... comparable to McDonalds, Wendy's etc... but all seats/stools, no booths... but clean. You place and pay for your order at the counter and then wait to be called to pick up your meal on a tray. True to the restaurant name, the menu includes burgers... 5 oz plain, cheese, bacon and "banquet" (bacon & cheese); 10 oz "Barrie" ($7.95) and "Super" ($8.95) burgers. The Super burger includes cheddar cheese and smoked back bacon. On my most recent visit the daily special was Banquet burger with Fries and 12 oz soda for $9.99. All-in-all, very reasonable prices. But the menu is not just burgers. Breakfast options include a variety of reasonably priced eggs & meat options and basic omelettes, all of which include toast, home fries and coffee. Also pancakes, French toast and a small selection of toasted sandwiches. But nothing fancy... so no Waffles nor Eggs Benedict. But important to many, all breakfast options are available ALL DAY.Non-breakfast menu includes a small selection of chicken and souvlaki options... as entrees or on a bun, as well as the usual chicken fingers and hot sandwiches. Prices are very reasonable. On my recent visit, a daily special of Steak on a Bun with fries and soda was priced at $11.65For a late dinner I opted for one of the all-day breakfast items... 3 eggs and steak, home fries, toast, coffee... $11.80 ($10.75 before 11:30 am). Eggs over easy were fine. Home fries were bland and limp. Steak came rare, as requested, was chewy and almost tasteless, but OK for the price of the meal. White toast... late in the day and had run out of other toast options. Coffee was distinctly disappointing... tepid and tasteless. Harking back to an earlier visit, the burgers are a much better bet. The Super burger is a really good meal all by itself.Overall... an OK restaurant.
We had heard good things about the burgers here and drive by all the time, but just finally decided to give them a try. Not that there was anything “wrong” with the burger but we will probably not return because there are much better burgers to be found in Barrie. We were happy that we did take out because the restaurant also had an off-putting smell. We also found the burger to be a little pricy although they were big. Personally I would rather a smaller portion of higher quality.
A must for everyone to go to. Very nice staff and excellent food that is fresh.I ordered 4 orders of halibut fish and chips and they were excellent. Very fresh fish and tasted excellent and excellent fries . All for 10.00,excellent price with excellent quality. Our family will be going back.
Decided to try this location on a whimThe wings were smaller than we're accustomed to from other Wild Wings locations but the flavors were there.
