The Italian Eatery - Barrie

This is Authentic Italian food! - from the moment you walk in, this place is bright clean and smells incredibly delicious. What a refreshing change to the all the franchise box locations attempting to be authentic with their food and ingredients - Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. It's quite evident that all the food is prepared and made fresh daily by Chef Paul. You can clearly see, smell and taste the freshness that is put into each and every Veal, Chicken and Sausage sandwich, the variety of Pastas and of course the Pizza....ahhh the pizza is Deeeeelicious! Everyone else "trying" to sell a Veal sandwich should be embarrassed, The cut, the homemade bread and fresh toppings like peppers, mushrooms, onions and the sauce are second to none. A definite old school "elbows out" sandwich...Yummm! This place is a must go for lunch (takeout available) with friends or co-workers from the office or a casual night out with your partner or family. We will definitely be back...as early as this weekend : )

CANNED mushrooms on a veal sandwich. Not acceptable. Bun too big for the veal. I will try again in a month or so to see if anything changes.

My first try at the i ragazzi eatery they were closed even though the hours showed they should have been open. Not a good start. Having wanted to find good Italian in the barrie area since I moved here. So I didn't return for 6 months. Now. Having found myself in the area insaw they had changed their name to the Italian eatery and are now open. Went in. Ordered the veal with the works. And. It was very good. Pros: I noticed their bread is home made. Very nice. Cons: seems a bit disorganized. They were stumbling over themselves versus having set tasks. Overall. I would eat there again. So I'm 50/50 currently. The next visit will win me over. Also interested in their catering. That will be another story to tell.

Went in for the first time and i ordered a veal sandwich which i found salty and a pasta which was terrible the pasta tasted like it had been sitting out for too long some of the pasta was hard. Will not order from there again.
