Wimpy's Diner - Barrie

My family and I enjoy eating here. I’ve been going here for a number of years. I've had breakfast, lunch and dinner on numerous occasions and at different times during the week. I've gone alone and with family and friends and never have I had a problem with service or the food. The waitresses were always attentive to our needs even when they were busy with lineups out the door. We know some of the waitresses by name and they are always welcoming when we come in and they say hello even if they are not our server. Being in the service industry, I realize that everyone can have an off day from time to time but I haven't witnessed anything like that at this restaurant. I travel a fair bit and eat out at a lot of different places. This one is one of my favourites for certain. Make up your own mind but I would definitely recommend this place to get some real food at a fair price. You'll be well fed and treated for sure.

Good food, if they get your order right.. We often get takeout from here, and have learned one valuable lesson: CHECK YOUR ORDER! I can't count the amount of times that something has been missing. But the food is good enough that we keep going back. The value can't be beat!

Great food, just A LOT of it. You def have to be really hungry or get one order for two people

Wimpys Diner on Bayfield Rd Barrie I know Wimpy's server more that only break-resistant food, but coffee is usually a clamp with most restaurant chains. Mostly the first thing I order is coffee. I'm sorry. Even if the coffee is bath, I usually make it. I couldn't do it this time. Not even if I hid the taste of cream and sugar. The tea wasn't better! The server was good and the owner came by to give us our food. He was charming and funny and cracked some bang jokes! As for food, it was really average. I ordered eggs, fries and toast. I wanted to improve Wimpy's joints and the food was decidedly better. I wouldn't recommend this place.

The service directly from us on foot was just terrible. We went in and stood there to sit much longer than necessary (family of 4). All three servers behind the counter stared at us, but didn't give us until we stood... there were at least 5 minutes (signs said to wait, to be sitting and 5 minutes may not seem long, but the restaurant was dead and there were 3 servers behind the counter). Once we had set ourselves and had our drinks, we had to wait until our server finished eating before our order... I would like to remind the owner/operator/manager that servers must have a half hour of uninterrupted break during their shifts (this is not the error of the server, but bad administration that does not follow the laws). The food was ok, but I had ordered an egg beenedict and the eggs were not softly posing like standard for an egg benny, they were poached medium (not runny, not hard)... still tasted good. Also, the server offered never seasoned pommes as an option for an additional $0.50, and we did not see that until it waits for our food there, which meant that it was too late to season... This is the first restaurant I have been that not automatically season their frits without having to be requested. We didn't get any cuts until we had our food and realized we had no forks. It seemed like other customers who came after us received better service. Overall no great experience, I just tipped ok because I have been working as a server for over 10 years. (If we had received a better service) would have been much more. It won't be back.
