The apricot scones were amazing, went well with the jam and cream. A good variety of teas to choose from, although I kept forgetting my decaffeinated tea was made with leaves and not bags I have never come across loose tea for decaffeinated tea! Waiters were very friendly and helpful, and we were seated in a lovely alcove overlooking gardens. It was great to be able to relax and catch up without interruptions or trying to make you leave! Only problem was disabled parking, I couldn’t see any and ended up parking across 2 spaces in car park to allow myself room to get in and out of car. On leaving we saw a marked out space in front of hotel, but there were no sign’s advertising this. Highly recommended for afternoon teas.
This hotel could be so good. The staff were polite the room was clean with air conditioning and the shower excellent. However breakfast was very disappointing. I have never experienced mould on my toast until we had the cooked breakfast at this hotel. That kind of puts you off the food. The breakfast was awful . Bacon inedible. The next day I went for the continental option which was a lot better. The staff apologised for the toast but really. They seriously need to get the kitchen sorted and then this hotel would be worth staying at.
We visited this lovely hotel for afternoon tea and loved the attention to detail to the presentation on the “ wall of food “ all very delicious and loads of choice- finished off with a nice cider sat in the pleasant grounds.
We were due to visit in April for my daughter's 30th birthday but obviously this was cancelled. We went yesterday afternoon for afternoon tea,3 traditional and 1 savoury, everything was delicious with a good selection of both food and teas. The staff were very welcoming and made a belated happy birthday chocolate plate which was a lovely thought.
We had a bad service experience back in August ‘19 but wanted to give Audley’s Wood another chance. We booked the Valentine’s meal at £45 a head. Overall the service was very poor. 20 mins wait to be asked if we wanted a drink, food brought out before the previous plates had been cleared, waiters just huddling around the till point with no attention on guests. On the plus side, the food was great in every way so at least the chef knows what they are doing. With two bars experiences in six months, we will not be going back.
