The restaurant was superb and the food was excellent. The host went above and beyond to make sure we had a cozy table and even saved the last two steaks for us.

I have to admit that this is the first time I have been disappointed during a visit to this restaurant. It took a long time for our drinks order to be taken, and when it finally was, we eagerly placed our food order. The starter, a sharing Camembert, arrived without side plates, resulting in cheese spilling all over the table after we finished. The main course was satisfactory, but after our plates were cleared, we were not asked about dessert or if we wanted anything else. We waited patiently, hoping that our server would return, but she ended up clearing the table next to us and immediately offered them the dessert menu. After waiting for half an hour to see the menu, my partner had to walk up to the staff in another room to request the bill since we had given up on dessert. Although the staff apologized, it was already too late. As my partner and I don't get to go out for dates often, this experience ruined our evening. Service is crucial in any establishment, regardless of whether it serves pub food or Michelin-starred cuisine. It shouldn't be difficult to provide excellent service and be attentive, but it is clear that the wait staff did not want to be there. I hope that this was an isolated incident, but we will not be returning anytime soon.

We stayed at this hotel for two nights while visiting Bombay Sapphire nearby. We stayed in one of the Stable rooms, which was spacious and well-appointed with an en-suite bathroom. On the first night, we dined in the pub and both ordered the steak options, which were excellent. The service was also great. The breakfast was fantastic, with a full English breakfast and a variety of pastries and toast available. The quality of the ingredients, especially the bacon, was top-notch. Overall, we had a wonderful experience at this restaurant.
