It was basically steamed broccoli with a lukewarm cheese sauce poured on top, and it wasn't even grilled. That was disappointing. I would likely eat here again, but I wouldn't order the gratin. It wasn't worth the £4 I paid for it, unfortunately.
I had a burger with a bun that was drenched in melted butter, making it incredibly greasy and unpleasant to hold. It left my hands filthy. The restaurant was initially nice and quiet, perfect for chatting over lunch with colleagues. However, as it got busier, they kept turning up the music, making it hard to hear and forcing us to shout over our meals. Not everyone wants to shout over lunch and it made me hesitant to return.
The restaurant is truly charming with a brand new feel. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is fantastic.
I would not recommend this place if you have food allergies as they don’t have separate menus, like I was told there would be. The managers attitude to this is not good. I was told that the chef could prepare something but I wouldn’t trust this. It is also very expensive considering you are eating in a pub. We left without ordering as I couldn’t take the risk of being ill
This was the first time I had eaten at the grill and it took some time before we sat and I had to find the staff! The food was good, apart from the broccoligratin, who was basically steamed with a lukewarm cheese sauce, which was plundered up and not even grilled, so that was disappointing. Would probably eat again, but would not have been worth the gratin....not the £4 I paid for, I'm afraid.
