Quercus - BASSANO DEL GRAPPA

When a friend proposed to meet at Quercus I was really excited as I only drink biodynamic and natural wines. Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience and I will not go back – wine selection is carefully handpicked, but an extra charge was added to my bill (for having a taste of the wine!!! and the staff was arrogant and entitled. I asked Silvia, the sommelier, to try a couple of wines by the glass before making my choice since I was not familiar with the offer. I chose a third one at the sommelier’s recommendation and my two friends ordered the ones I tasted. I ordered another glass of wine and for last, I tasted a third one which I then ordered. When it came to paying, I noticed an extra 4€ ‘bar’ charge had been added to the bill – this is approximately the cost of a glass of wine. When I asked the cashier about it, I was told that the charge was 1€ for each taste of wine I had (they also made a mistake and charged me 4€ extra for having tasted 3 wines, all of which we ordered! . The cashier brushed me off saying it was “politica aziendale” – the establishment’s policy. Not only this is highly debatable, but the sommelier should have made us aware at the outset that an extra 1€ would be charged for tasting, rather than adding it to the final bill without mentioning anything. I live between Copenhagen and London, where I regularly go to excellent natural wine bars – it’s the first time in my life that I have been charged to taste a wine. Wine is culture and tasting is part of the experience! NoGo.

Probably the best Enoteca in town. Nice decor, very friendly and knowledgeable staff and a great selection of wines, with great value.

I'm glad to have a new place like that in town. Not too crowded, special handmade forniture make the place a cozy one. About the wine ask Silvia a good wine. We tested here the best orange wine ever. About the food you will find a few appetizers and something else. Everyone is very good made of really special ingredients. We tried the lardo of Patanegra and we still feel the flavor.
