The Liquorice Gardens - Bassetlaw

My in-laws took my wife and me out for dinner here, and we had a lovely experience. I ordered the katsu chicken breast curry; while I found the chicken to be a bit dry, I’ve heard that the other dishes were quite delicious.

We dined here for lunch on Saturday and had a pleasant experience. I ordered the half chicken, which I always enjoy, while my husband opted for a burger. The meals at Wetherspoons provide excellent value; they aren't gourmet but are satisfying and flavorful. The pub was bustling, yet there were plenty of tables available, and, as always, the customer service was excellent.

I stopped by The Gardens for breakfast as I was passing through on my way to another destination. It's a Wetherspoons, so that checks out. The traditional breakfast? Yes, that's right. The cutlery had that vaguely worn feel? Check. The fried egg was so hard it could double as a frisbee? Absolutely. The bacon was warm? Check. The toast was lightly toasted, but the butter was tougher than a brick? Definitely. The baked beans had a bit of skin? Check. The sausage was on the cheaper side? Yes. The hash browns were soft? Check. The coffee was strong enough to give you a headache? You bet. Same old routine? Check. And the men's restroom was a mess, with liquids everywhere but in the toilets? Triple check.

It was Thursday afternoon and wasn't too busy. My wife had bbq chicken melt which she said was good. I had 3 small plates of a pizza, loaded chips and Southern fried chicken strips. They were nice but there was just too much. But at £14+ it was a bargain. Nice pub to eat. One thing I noticed was the cleanliness. It wasn't like your typical spoons with mess everywhere.

The Liquorice gardens are very nice and the staff are very friendly we had a beautiful meal in the Liquorice gardens we will call again
