Saracens Head

I went to the restaurant on the 27th for a quick drink while shopping, but it was complete chaos. There were dirty tables everywhere, empty glasses all over the place, and the bartender was shouting non-stop at customers. He rudely told us he was on his own, with no manager in sight, and seemed to be losing his temper with everyone. After waiting 15 minutes at the bar and still not receiving any drinks, we decided to leave and go to Fiasco up the road.

Dale was an excellent host. The drinks were delicious and the service was very speedy. I really enjoyed the Amstel I had and would definitely go back again.

The pub is nice, but the food was disappointing. I ordered a chicken and bacon sandwich on ciabatta with a side salad of rocket and red onion. The ciabatta was stale and dry, topped with a few chunks of chicken and a small piece of bacon. The salad was just a few wilted pieces of rocket and what looked like tomato or red onion. I paid £8.45 for this. The bartender was unhelpful and dismissive when I pointed out the issues with my meal. Despite his attitude, I wasn't looking for a refund or replacement, just wanted to provide feedback. He accused me of being rude when I tried to make light of the situation. I work in hospitality and know that customer satisfaction is key. My friend was able to get a refund for the sandwich later on. Greene King, please improve your service.

Thank you Dale, fantastic place, pity we found it on the last day otherwise we would definitely have returned. Level Head beer brilliant and the atmosphere the same. Loved the library side where we sat. This place is a must for a drink or two and food. Thanks to all

During a work trip. I stayed in the Hilton opposite this pub and hearing it was the oldest in the city I decided to stop in. The staff were great and very helpful in recommending craft beers they had on tap. The food was also very good and I really enjoyed the steak and ale pie with chips. If you like ales and decent pub food, this is the place. I’ll definitely be back if I’m in Bath.
