Amazing. A lot of art of Cambodian artists. I will go again. On the top floor they have a very nice coffee shop. 100% recommended. You can go here without visiting the museum.
I cannot recommend this art gallery and cafe enough. local run gallery displaying art from local cambodian artists and artists from all over cambodia, i absolutely love art galleries but this has easily been one of, if not the most incredible one i’ve been to. so inspiring getting to see art created by cambodian artists and see their influence. a little out of the way but absolutely worth a visit, entry is $5 or $2.50 if you’re under 26, and a lovely little rooftop cafe at the end once you’re done in the gallery. can also buy books and postcard prints from the artists to support : so glad we stumbled upon this place, definitely visit if you are ever in battambang
First of all, the artwork itself was spectacular, sometimes whimsical, often poignant, clearly birthed out of the troubled modern history of Cambodia. That said, the gallery set up left a lot to be desired in my opinion. The entry fee of $5 seemed rather high, the rooftop cafe was expensive as well, as were the art books and postcards $5 for a large postcard seemed exorbitant). We were not allowed to take photos inside the gallery and they only switched the lights on in the section we were currently in, so we had to report to the curator each time we moved to a new section so he could turn on the lights. In my mind, at least, the cumbersome rules of the gallery diminished my enjoyment of the art itself. If you don't mind paying a pretty high fee, the gallery is certainly worth a visit, though.
I stumbled across this place while in Battambang and found the first Modern Art Gallery in the country! The Artwork is beautiful, and then the rooftop cafe is such a peaceful place to enjoy a drink or something to eat. 100% recommend! Cost is $5 for Adults or $2.5 for under 26 or students worth every bit of money though
