Claverton - Battle

Although some way from Battle we had a wonderful stay here in 1066 country. A few vineyards to sample, Battle Abbey, Hastings, Not a huge establishment (only 10 rooms as far as I could make out) but well appointed, bright and airy, with friendly, helpful staff. I visited a craft fair being held here. From what I saw it looked nice.

Passed this hotel many times and always wanted to go there so booked a Sunday lunch, lovely setting took our drinks outside whilst we waited for lunch, bit concerned that our drinks from the menu were not available. The meal was disappointing surely providing a real burger is not too much trouble for a restaurant. Unfortunately we won't be going there again. I was disappointed to be honest with our stay here at Claverton Hotel. We used to come here many years ago before it was extended probably about 9 10 years ago on the odd occasion. It unfortunately has certainly lost its personal touch when we used to stay the owner of the property used to welcome you at the door and sit you down in the front room with a cup.of tea while we decided what we wanted for breakfast and then take us to our room and made sure we knew how everything worked and that we were happy, how different a few years make. A young lad was on reception no welcome at the door just sign here your room is upstairs on the left and that was it. We decided to have a drink in their new beer garden well it's new to us I didn't dare tell my husband the price of the drinks. It was clear that the main focus now is functions and the beer garden not the bed and breakfast side. Food was nowhere near the standard we were used to here. It was ok but not the wow factor that it used to be. Unfortunately, we won't be back. Rooms: 3 Service: 2 Location: 5

Great stay here. They have a wonderful Garden Which is great if you've got kids. Breakfast is really Tasty and service was perfect all round. Would definitely stay again if we're in the area.
