Restoroute de Bavois

We were on the A1 between Grindelwald and Zurich and needed a break. The Kisoque de Bavois is a combined gas station, convince business, Burger King Restaurant and another upscale restaurant. It was very busy and, although the parking was rather...big, it was almost full of just a few parking spaces available. The building, built on the side of a hill, looked rather small, but once we entered, we realized that it was more level and very large. Viewing Windows on the side of the mountain gave a magnificent and beautiful view of the Swiss landscape, as you saw the Jura mountains in the distance. While we were there, we also had a burger from the Burger King who was quite expensive. The toilets were nice and clean, although they cost 1 Swiss franc.

On the way to France we stopped here quickly. We've been here before and knew what to expect. It is a beautiful location and organized rest stop with restaurant and a BK, shop, bathroom and a fantastic view. The restaurant is fine, but prices could be lower. BK is BK, you know what you expect. The bathroom costs... but at least you can use the ticket to get a discount in the shop, so it's not too bad. Pets are allowed in the restaurants, plus. Outside there are many parking spaces and also some green areas if your pet also needs a break. If you drive to France (or through), this is always a good option for us, sometimes for a quick bite. But this time only for a bath break and quick shopping in the store.

Personally I like this motorway stop. The restaurant is a reasonable self service with a good choice of food, and in my opinion is one of the better restaurants on the motorway in the area. Meals vary from salads through to the grill, and many...different plates. If you can’t resist, they had a wonderful looking selection of cakes and pastries. The roast chicken was very good today, and plentiful. One aspect I like about this place is that the view looks out across the plain to the mountains in the distance... a country view not a motorway view. That in itself is relaxing. I’ll be back for sure sometime

Auf dem Weg nach Frankreich ist hier der Stop vor der Grenze. Alles ist sauber und die Preise fair. danke

This place was an oven. Really needed at least some fans for ventilation. The prices at Burger King inside would blur an airport or theme park owners. In view of the fact that Francs are about the same as Dollars, the prices were three times what would be a typical US restaurant and double what they would be in an airport. The service was also very slow.
