Meaty's Roadhouse Bbq Sausage Shack

Fast forward to today, I decided to sample a bit of everything: ribs, chicken, sausage, and brisket. The chicken was juicy but had no smoky flavor and was lightly sauced before being grilled. I would have preferred more of the sauce they used; I’ll give it a 5/10. The sausage was overcooked and dry. Any moisture came solely from the grease inside. The seasoning was mild, and the meat had a thick grind. There was a hint of smoke in the flavor, which helped it a bit, but I still rate it a 2/10. The ribs this time were way overcooked; every bite was like chewing on jerky. The sauce didn’t help at all, and there was zero moisture left, just rendered fat. The last two bones were inedible. They must have reheated them on the grill, but all that did was impart an unpleasant campfire smoke flavor. I couldn’t taste any meat—just smoke and sauce with tough, chewy bits. Another 2/10. The brisket was the only smoked item I could somewhat enjoy; however, it was still dry and needed sauce to get it down. It had a decent smoky flavor, but the rub was lacking in seasoning, so it didn’t stand out. I’d give it a 4/10. I also tried the cheese potatoes. I would not recommend them! The cheese sauce was bizarre—definitely not what I expected. I’d rate it a 1/10. Next, I had the baked beans, which seemed like a generic BBQ joint repackaging Bush’s beans with a bit of leftover meat mixed in. Definitely not worth it—1/10. Overall, I don’t see myself returning to this place. For nearly $50, I didn’t feel I got my money's worth at all. They claim to have the best BBQ in Bay City, but I can assure you there are better options out there.

I was really looking forward to trying their food, but it was a huge letdown. The chicken was the driest I've ever had, the ribs were extremely dry and tasted old, and while the brisket was decent, it was the only highlight. Overall, I was very disappointed. I feel like they’re just trying to take advantage of customers. I won't be going back. It’s clear they don’t value their customers at all.

I want to express my heartfelt thanks to Greg and "my precious" for handling our family's funeral meal on Sunday. I know you had a hectic weekend, but you welcomed us with open arms and assured me that everything would be taken care of. The food was outstanding—hot, delicious, and a huge hit with our family and friends. Thank you once again for all that you do for this community. You both are truly amazing!

Good BBQ. Had the Ultimate Platter. More than enough for two people. Good selection of sauces, sides, beverages including beer.
