My wife has been trying to get me to go for years, as and tells me frequently how much i am missing out on. Finally decided last Thursday was going to be the day. We went down to the Beaverton food pod at the rise. I walked around the perimeter for a good 30 minutes gauging cleanliness of the carts, who had the most business, what was on the menu. Finally passed by Altengartz and was immediately put at ease by how open, clean and fresh everything looked. Talked to the owner for a minute and knew this was going to be my the first place I ate at. He mentioned the special was a pork schnitzel, so i went for that. Also added sauerkraut and German potato salad. I must say, i was seriously impressed with the food. The schnitzel was cooked to perfection, crispy golden brown on the outside but juicy on the inside. The seasoning was spectacular, all around great piece of meat! The sauerkraut tasted as good as my grandma used to make, and that is saying something. The potato salad was on point as well, perfect amount of vinegar, warm and delicious. Overall this was an extremely pleasant, delicious experience. I can't wait to go back and try his brats and German sausage!
Very tasty, but not $15 tasty. Bring your own drink and save. Better yet buy a pound and cook and add the condiments yourself. Gave me one small napkin for two Brats and German Potato Salad. I did not see a place to wash my hands. Guess I should have tipped if I wanted to give them my business. Why do they need a tip? It's an overpriced food cart. No bathroom. Sharing a table if you're lucky to get one. Still restaurant prices.
Did not disappoint! Got the works, grilled onions, grilled sauerkraut, grilled cheese. Other options and sauces available.
They give away free samples of the bratwurst if you want to give it a try. The bratwurst was delicious. It was juicy and not overly salty. You can add individual toppings sauerkraut, onions, garlic, and cheese. The fries were below average. Frozen crinkle cut fries.
This is Roger Harms from Contract Furnishings Mart and we had Altengartz German Brand Bratwurst carter our dinner meeting for 125 people and everyone raved on and on at how amazing the entire meal was. they are top notch and we will be having them back soon to cater our next event. 5 stars!!!
