Cafe 1901 - Beijing

There are no vegan options available. I ordered a sandwich to the breakfast that should be vegan, but there were eggs and cheese. I have a new one. no vegan milk available.

Beautiful environment (do not understand the story, but it is a cool chill 3 story baroque building.) delicious cheese sauce chips (my first time) 38rmb. pizza wasn't so cool. 90rmb and it seemed to have tomato instead of the tomato sauce, and the cheese was very mild. interesting basic (thick to place, thin to place, sometimes soggy, sometimes crispy - and how baked goods at the edges.) okay if they need something and don't make it out to spend something extra, they just don't raise expectations.

Not sure why it is listed in happycow. like any caffe in European style in peking there are sandwiches, pasta and pizza on the menu. The only vegan options were a suppe or margharita without cheese that I could order after long negotiations. the extra toppings were never added, and the super-teig pizza was more like a ciabatta brot with tomaten. the obly reason why I would go back is how quiet and empty the place was perfect to take a nod.

On our trip to peking, we were in the alborada hostel, only on the road from this cafe. (near the train station xisi) it was the best way to start every day on our trip in peking. the first trip there, we had the vegetables and the veggie pizza. I think we were so excited to have vegetarian food, we went over. the fries were a very large bowl with dressing and sweet up. we were very full and satisfied with the food and options! the morning was the coffee perfect.

What a cool place! I wandered in looking for coffee one day and was impressed by their strong Kicking Horse espressos. It wasn't till the third visit that I wandered upstairs and looked at the menu. The place is huge, set in a gorgeous historical building, and filled with tables and booths for working on wifi or lounging. They have at least 5 menu items for veg/vegans; nothing compared to other restaurants in the city, but good for this area which has hardly anything. The veggie pizza isn't mind-blowing, but it's fun. Many workers understand veg concepts. It's the kind of place I almost don't want to talk about too much to not give it away... but it deserves the support as it's a very cool little spot.
