The skin of the xiaolongbao was delicate, causing the inner juice to be spattered in the steamer, affecting the overall taste. In close proximity, Doughzone has a better taste for a lower price. My personal recommendations are the hot and sour soup and winter melon milk tea. I personally did not like the pan-roasted radish cake. Lastly, don't forget to make a reservation!
The service and atmosphere at this restaurant are excellent. The food is also very good, with standout dishes including the tannennudeln and spicy xiao long bao. However, the portion sizes are on the smaller side. Overall, it is a great spot for socializing and dating, but may not be the best choice if you're looking for a large meal.
Full disclosure, I don't usually write reviews on Google, but Supreme Dumplings was having a promotion (refer to photo) that was too good to pass up. Overall, the food and service was great (thanks, Steven)! Starting with the wait time, we arrived around noon on a Saturday, and was originally told it would be a 45 minute wait. However, we were told that there's bar seating that would be quicker, and it ended up being only a 20 minute wait! Menu-wise, we were told they didn't have any pan-fried buns available. We ended up ordering the Szechuan Spicy Xiao Long Bao, Supreme Tan Tan Noodles, Hot Sour Soup (part of promotion), Stir-Fry String Beans, Black Sesame Mochi Rice Balls with soy powder, and Winter Melon Tea with Milk (part of promotion).
Steven was our waiter and he was amazing! Super friendly, helpful, and efficient! He gave us recommendations on all the poppin' menu items, and checked on us frequently. Heard about this place from a couple of local foodie-friends and family, wanted to try something other than Ding Tai Fung every time we visit from Vancouver BC, CANADA. As I’m filling this review out, we’re currently waiting for our meal to arrive but I’ll start with the other stuff:1) Staff Professionality 9/10There was a bit of a pile up with reservations, walk-ins, large parties of 10+ but overall the professionalism of both the server and the hostess. The hostess was able to somehow manage the chaos and still maintain her cool during this soft opening. Major kudos to her!2) Atmosphere 10/10I do love the interior decor, it’s very minimalistic with regards to colour choice. There’s a hint of mint/light teal as a main accent colour with a combination of gold metallics too! I could sit here all day if a coffee shop had the same interior 3) Menu selection 8.5/10This might change if we come back again in the future as this is the soft opening so not everything on the menu is available but that’s ok! This is more of a fluid rating ?4) Taste 9/10Our XLB orders were pretty fabulous, Ding Tai Fung… you are currently replaced by this place! #sorrynotsorry besides, DTF is a bit overly over hyped up…The one thing I’d say that needs improvement is the seasonal garlic vegetable greens, it wasn’t what I was thinking about. Was thinking it to be more of a oil stir fry with actual garlic flavouring but it came up as boiled greens with blanched garlic slices.
