Bamboo Palace - Bellingen

I recently dined at Bamboo Palace for the first time and as a vegetarian for 27 years, I must say that it was one of the best tofu dishes I've ever had. The tofu was crispy on the outside and silky smooth on the inside, and the freshly wok-fried vegetables served alongside were perfect. The service provided by the mother and son team was fast and very friendly. Head chef Barry cooks up truly authentic Chinese cuisine. I can't wait to go back. In one word - superb.

Checking out TripAdvisor and seeking this local Chinese restaurant with rave reviews, I thought I would give it ago myself.I ordered Honey Chicken, Mongolian Lamb, Garlic Chicken, Sweet & Sour Pork & Special Fried Rice as takeaway. It definitely wasn't fresh.. The Honey Chicken must have been microwaved, it was soggy and sitting in a slop of Cornsyrup, water, MSG and cornflour with no trace of honey at all absolutely bland..Mongolian Lamb & Garlic was average, I wont blow everything apart but it wasn't fresh and the taste of uncooked cornflour was through all the bland sauces.Sweet & Sour Pork Shared the same fate as the Honey chicken unfortunately, very soggy with watered down bland cornflour sauce.Special fried rice was ok, but it all went in the bin.. When picking it up, I already had doubts after seeing an Australian cook...

The service at this restaurant was friendly and efficient, and the food was delicious! I ordered the honey chicken, which was the best I've ever had. The skin was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, making it easy to cut with my fork.

Very friendly and accommodating staff. A great sized menu with many variations is why you could eat here often and have something different each time. Large portions of great tasting food. Takeaway is also available.

When the new management took over we bought takeaway regularly. Found it really nice. Unfortunately the food now has become bland. The produce is fresh and good servings but the sauces are tasteless. The staff are absolutely wonderful and it is a shame about the food. Please if you eat here tell them if you are not happy. It is the only Chinese restaurant in town and I miss my fortnightly take-aways. Please guys work on the sauces!
