Hokkai Ramen Sushi - Bellingham

Had the Pork Katsu Don and Miso Ramen for dinner. It was our first time here on a weeknight, but seems like a popular place as we arrived before 6 pm and got the last free table! They were also busy with takeout orders. The ramen was flavourful and filling for a meal with a thick piece of tender pork, lots of bamboo shoots, and a soft-boiled egg. The katsu don had an impressive amount of deep fried pork pieces that lined the entire top of the bowl. It had the egg nicely broken on top with a couple of yellow pickles. As the bowl was very meat heavy, it would have been nice to have a few more vegetables to balance it out! That being said, the food was comforting and we'd come back.

In the early 70’s I was an art student at UC. I lived studied in Kyoto at Diatokuji Bhuddist temple complex. Japanese food is so different, but so delicious. I was delighted when I found out Bellingham had +20 Japanese restaurants.My favorite is Hokkai on the Meridian heading into Bellingham. Priced very well, it’s very traditional, fresh, well prepared, great menu, good prices.Every time I go into Bellingham I stop by for a bite or take out. Staff is lovely. Chef is excellent. I’m always pleased at variety of items, and excellent preparations. I make a point of stopping by every time I come in to Bellingham. I worked in the food industry all my life I must say Hokkai is top notch with me.Kid friendliness: Very hospitable place quite welcoming staff.Parking: Easy in out great parking right in front of Hokkai. On street side in mall, Bank of America entrance.Wheelchair accessibility: I use cane with no issues.

What a fantastic spot. Went here on a whim and it did not disappoint. I had the Hokkai ramen bowl and I’m not sure if I’m going to even try anything else next time I come visit, it was so good. Give this place a try!!Food: 5/5

Full of people. We need to be on the wait list for a while. The order wasn't quick because there were only two servers. But the dish tasted good. It's a cute place to have a quick lunch.Food: 5/5

Absolutely worst food I’ve had. How can you serve this? I do not recommend anyone to eat here. Save your money and don’t come here
