I push the door open, my glasses fogged up from my mask, and I fumble through the raindrops, completely blind. A friendly voice welcomes me and guides me forward. I laugh and say I can’t see anything. “Of course! It’s always the same! No menu needed!” the voice replies, making me chuckle. “I’ll have a kartoffel, please.” “You got it! Just $8. Sour cream?” “Yes, please!” “One, two, three?” “Just one, please!” That dish is hot, delicious, affordable—comfort food that reminds me of lazy college nights when the streets were bustling and the pandemic was still just a distant thought. This restaurant is perfect and truly authentic—everything from the always-friendly staff to the cherished record player, as well as the low-priced soft drinks and simple menu offering “beef or potato.” Pel’meni is good for the soul, and I hope it never changes. Masks are required, seating is indoors, and there’s a selection of badges to enjoy.
I visited this restaurant an hour before closing, and I was impressed by the amazing staff, especially the cashier and the chef. Despite the busy atmosphere, they worked quickly and provided excellent service. Both of them went above and beyond to ensure the safety of all customers by following required protocols. The service was very professional. Now, about the food: it was delicious! It was one of the best Russian dumplings I've ever had! I’ll definitely be back!
