Locanda Scialapopolo - BENEVENTO

We had one of our best meals on this trip to Italy in this small place. The owner Alphonso is a jewel of a person, a truly great host. The place is specialized in authentic local cuisine, made from local ingredients. We started with the Scialapopolo Antipasto. I had the linguins with salted fish, while my wife had pasta with chickpeas; a local favorite who wasn't on the menu. Alphonso's wife was kind enough to make it a special request for my wife. The second plate of grilled pigs was perfection. The meat was tender and full of taste. Topped the meal with a slice made from home baba and a shot of Expresso. Will definitely come back when we visit next. Well worth the way around when you drive around.

Best meal we had in Benevento. Friendly family business with authentic Italian dishes. Nice Al fresco dining area under the moonlight. Tourist friendly and absolutely the most fantastic service and food we receive from our waiter Giuseppe. 12/10
