Had the fixed price 3 course €32 menu, all good except the hay ice cream, just not to our taste! The salmon tartare was excellent and the beef delicious. Local champagne and cheeses did not disappoint. Service was underwhelming but did not detract from the quality of the food.
Staying Vertus we found most of the restaurants closed for their summer break and had to look a little further afield. The next village only a couple of kilometres away proved to be our saviour and the Hostellerie du Mont-Amie a good choice. Despite some poor and quite old reviews we found our reception warm and courteous, shown to our table at once and aperitifs offered almost as on as we sat down. Menus followed shortly and we chose one of the fixed price menus. Very good food well presented with the freshest of ingredients meant we had a lovely evening. A busy service with only a couple of tables free gave the impression that this restaurant is popular with locals and residents (it is an hotel). In view of this take advantage of booking in advance to guarantee a table, it is easy via the online link. We would return but not this trip as our itinerary takes us further north, but well worth a visit.
Very beautiful restaurant, nice reception, attentive and professional service. My disappointment comes from the kitchen: the dishes, although perfectly prepared, were barely hot. whether it is the entrance (saffron cream and rock fish) delicious to the remaining but served warm (cold limit) in a cold plate or the resistance plate (sweet of lamb perfectly cooked) but also warm!
Large room, where only tables outside of ours were occupied. We opted for the menu, which did not disappoint us. only disappointment: the fondue of the squirrels, on which we founded great hopes and which was served in microscopic portions. the wine map makes the part beautiful to local champagnes, offered at relatively affordable prices. We accompanied our meal with an extra crude of the Doyard-Mahé house, which turned out to be a pure wonder. Service sometimes remote, exclusively male.
