Augie's Montreal Deli - Berkeley

?? What a perfect place to feel relaxed, have great food and hang out. Casual ambience that works perfectly with their menu. The Montreal smoked meat is really, really good, but you also need the right bread and sides to make it work and they do make it all work together very well. Poutine was robust, savory and basic the way it should be. Everything was on point, and the service and staff were great. Dog friendly outdoor seating scores big points. Look forward to a return visit.

I'm not sure why Poutine didn't get caught in the states because it doesn't get better than Pommes with cheese curds and engraving. Augie 's serves some delicious poutins and their Gravy is good at everything. The fried cheese curds and gravy are another delicious side. Today they had a Canadian dip special that was a smoked meat sandwich with gravity for diving and one side of the Cole Slav. I like her sister-in-law dressed slightly in a vinegar dressing and not sweet and mayonnaise.

Poutine, deep-fried cheese curds, brisket and bacon sandwiches. In other words, Canadian comfort food. The quality is definitely there, and portions are generous. They moved from their old location, which was a mile south of today's place. The new location is larger, with a beautiful interior. Can't wait until the indoor kitchen is allowed again.

I love eyeballs. You'll love eyeballs. Maybe if you are vegan, you will have some concerns, but you are used to it. The food is great. People are great. The room is also special due to non Berkeley standards. Savory Heil trains are like the sky for certain Nerds. I'm afraid I could be one.

Superb quailty as always! went on a Saturday afternoon, easy parking right up front, and plenty of free tables outside (outdoor dining only). everything was spaced out well, tables all very clean, and food served in to go containers. canned and bottle soft drinks and local beers too. thanks Augie's!
