Amici Amici Paste & Pizze - Berlin

This was the worst service I have ever experienced. Not only were the staff blatantly rude but the service is incredibly poor and basically impossible to get their attention.When we paid for the meal, we only had a large note, which we paid with expecting some change. They assumed it was a tip, however we did not want to tip that much, so when we asked for some change they slammed the change on the table without making eye contact.I've never dealt with worse service in my life. Also, if you ask for tap water be prepared to pay 5.50 euro for 750mls.I've only had fantastic service everywhere else I've eaten in Berlin, so don't waste your time with this place.

There are many ways to eat out. Around Mehringdamm in Berlin Kreuzberg, you have everything: Mustafa's Doener Kebab and the posh E.T.A. Hoffmann, the fine Italian dining with the Bar Centrale, and so many more. But Amici Amici really has established itself as the straight forward trattoria-style restaurant you always go back to. Why? Because you not only always get really nice pizza and yummi pasta, but also because the fish, seafood and meat are invariably fresh and cooked to perfection, the salads are made from vegetables which had a life, the service is straightforward and friendly, and you are welcome whether you are alone, a couple (in whichever constellation), or a family party of ten. Last time we were ten family members, and the kids got their pizza with extra decoration and a big smile. Highly recommended.

We came in really hungry but ended leaving disappointed. We got a table for two and the menus, 10 min after us entered a group of around 40 people. After some complications with the ordering, they didn't have a certain dish we wanted, nevermind, the waitor reccomended something else and we went with that. We waited about 40 min for the food, i got mine first and my girlfriend waited for her pizza for another 15min. The 40 ppl that came after us all got their food before us. When the food came my pasta was ok, would have preffered a bit more prawns, there were maybe 2 of them in the whole pasta, and the funghi pizza was really bad, hardly any funghi on it, and everything was overpriced. There are much better restaurants in Berlin, especially in Mehringdamm.

I visited the restaurant twice -- the first time the restaurant was too crowded to seat me, but a few days later, I was able to have dinner without a reservation. The restaurant is on a busy street, Mehringdamm, a block from a subway station. Many stores and other restaurants around. Amici served me a very good pasta. The waitress had limited English skills but I was able to order what I wanted. The restaurant seemed packed with locals and families sharing a meal they all enjoyed.

Arrived by chance quite late. We were quickly seated and service was excellent and friendly. Best Italian food we have had. Very reasonable prices. Highly recommended.
