On my trip, I've been back more than once. It's just a really friendly place, great decor, and interesting food. The russian specials are well worth trying. The staff are very friendly as well.
Classical Berliner cafe under the S-Bahn Friedrichstrasse, with Chagall motives in the interior and painting in the ceiling. The place is relevant for both - a small hunger or a proper dinner. Cande light and a bit intimate atmosphere in the evenings.Very tasty Auflauf (baked hotdish with potatoes or pasta), also baked potato with salmon is exquisite. Russian dishes from the menu are partially unusual for the cuisine itself (like dumplings with salmon or Russian chocolate cake), but stull delicious!Though the Cheese Plate consisted more of a big amount of vegetables than of a variety of cheeses..
We had a fantastic breakfast challenges Chagall. It containes sort of hams, salamis, cheese, vegetables and even fruits, an egg, honey, marmelade, nutella and two brown and two white breads. It was more than enough for two persons. It was unbelievable. But next day when we invited our children (they arrived a day later to Berlin), we got not the same as a day before altthough we ordered a French breakfast in addition :(Why can't be to keep the same level?
Recommended by a friend who'd lived in Berlin ad so good we went back twice in a week.Delicious borsch and lots of lovely choices for vegetarians and meat eaters. They brought us complementary liqueurs at the end of the evening. Seats outside, with cosy blankets in winter.
