The dishes were either ok or a miss, nothing to rave about. And for that price, water really should be included, instead they charge 7.50 euros for a bottle of water. Overall it was a very disappointing experience, I do not recommend.
Hit and miss... 3 of the 6 courses where great, the other 3 ok... The restaurant very informal, industrial and minimalistic. From a 1 restaurant I expect more luxury like some nice amuses or other nice extras. The staff is friendly and attentive. Wine pairing was good, unfortunately no option for half glasses. Overall not the value for money I've hoped for.
I don’t like writing bad reviews and generally i believe in “If you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say anything at all”. Well, so let’s start positive. The experience leading up to the dinner is fun and exciting. The concept is something i like as well: this industry needs to innovate and try new things. The restaurant space itself was quiet disappointing to me. The rugged and industrial “designed” restaurant felt more like an afterthought to a warehouse. Very berlin i guess. It is also quiet cramped with very limited space in between tables. It was packed with customers and very loud imo. It was also quiet warm in there. These are all things that made me feel especially uncomfortable considering we are in the midst of an pandemic. They did only let people in that got tested, but i still think it was not necessary to fill the space like this. Even without corona this would have been an issue. The food was overall disappointing to me. The dishes overall lacked flavor and expression. I felt at times basic seasoning was missing. The presentation seemed excessive compared to the overall result. Besides the beet root dish i did not like much. The wine pairing was only good. Service seemed stressed and rushed with the dishes. For me a no-go! After mentioning it they slowed it down. Food was introduced and that’s it. I missed a feeling of passion and proudness for their trade in their overall attitude. Overall very disappoint considering the price and prestige coming with a star. The quality was just not there. This is purely my opinion and based on many visits in all sorts of fine dining venues around the world as well on my education in this industry. Casual fine dining is a niche that can be done a lot better.
So many tastes. So special. The place, the music, the energy. Amazing.
It's my first review ever written in Happycow, and manly I'm doing it not for a good reason. Cookies and Cream can very well be considered as a vegan fraude. Not because the food isn t good, and there you have to given them credite for coming up with some mixed flavours well conceived, although as so many people already written, the portions are ridiculously small, but mainly because vegan doesn't t stand for what they do!!! Since when does a vegan pays 100 euros( yes I sais 100 euros!! for 2 main dishes and 2 desserts and a bottle of water??? Since when vegan is making money in a no matter what way??Probably me and my family missed something, or we weren't cool or famous enough to be part of that night's show. But first of all, to find it, it's almost mission impossible. We tour around the block, and ask for directions everywhere. And finally, when we find our way in, the place looks like an abandoned old garage, that needs some aesthetic and lighting improvement. The word friendly does not apply for most of the staff, and there lots of then, but they can be considered as real pro models that tour around the tables. We were left hanging the menu in our hands, because the waiter was, after 10 seconds, tired of our questions, and went away in a I'll be back Terminator scene. And after reading all this amazing reviews published here, I wonder which part of the Cookies and Cream vibe I didn't capture, or if we are talking about the same vegan restaurant.
