I have the best time in Berlin. Every night we went to Matador, close to our hostel with friends. Staff are friendly and speak English.
I ate lunch here about a month ago and regret to have to report that the food is really poor. There are many restaurants in the area and this is the worst I've tried. The service was friendly however, which is why I've awarded 2...stars.
I write this review as a warning don 't waste your time and money at this place! Berlin, Germany is not know for its great Mexican food, but this is ridiculous. The atmosphere was average, nothing special, but not bad; the service was very German,...meaning virtually nonexistent; and the food oh no! We ordered the enchilada combo dish (one beef, one chicken), served with rice and salad, and the 2 Taco dish (one beef, one chicken), served with rice and salad. We didn 't get the beef and chicken tacos we ordered, but were served the vegetarian tacos instead. When we asked the waiter if we could have what we ordered, we were told flat out, 'No, this is what you get, and this is what you pay for. ' The beef in the one enchilada tasted like it was turning rancid, and the chicken was just awful. [Really not happy. We ate a few bites of each, paid, and left. We didn 't touch the bland basmati rice or the small 'salad ' on the plate, which was lettuce with a few grated carrots, no dressing. We took a walk and a short train ride to Santa Maria on Oranienstrasse, which we knew was one of the best Mexican restaurants in Berlin. We shouldn 't have been lazy and just started there. It was fantastic, as always. So much for trying new things.
Mexican food in a boring way, not eating again. And the service kitchen is slow when it opens. 40 minutes. Nice restaurant.
