I pointed this out to my spouse, and it became clear that her behavior varied significantly between Hispanic guests and Native Americans, whom she treated rudely. I'm not one to jump to conclusions, but this hostess should not be in that role if she has prejudices against Native Americans, especially in a Santa Ana Pueblo Casino. Aside from the issue of racial bias, the food was fantastic! That's why we returned for a second night, and she was there again, displaying the same attitude. My concerns were validated as she treated us poorly once more. I suggest that someone speak with the older Hispanic hostess, as the casino has a diverse clientele that is important for business. I also observed that the parties who were seated before us didn’t have reservations; I heard each one inquire about the wait time while she told them there would be a 20-minute wait and took their names. #racist
Overall, it's a pretty average bar and cantina for lunch. The three-taco plate is just okay. You'll need to walk through a smoke-filled casino to reach it. However, one standout item on the menu is the breaded, deep-fried green chile strips. They're definitely worth braving the smoke for.
A couple of weeks ago, I won a prize and received a food voucher, so I decided to try Cantina Rio since it’s fairly new. The atmosphere was enjoyable. However, I believe management could improve by providing better training for their staff to enhance their skills as waiters and waitresses. They seemed a bit overwhelmed, and I felt sorry for them, as it appeared they were unsure of what they were doing, even though they were putting in a lot of effort. It felt like the only waitress who was truly on top of things was a young girl with glasses. The food took quite a while to arrive, but the burgers were tasty. The Caesar salad had too much lettuce and not enough chicken.
I recently had my rehearsal dinner here and it was amazing. Will definitely be recommending to family and friends! The servers were on top of any, and everything we needed! We had a big party and everyone was happy with the food and service! I am happy Iwas able to find a close restaurant with great food and prices. The manager was also amazing he made sure to come around to myguest's, and make sure they and us were happy the entire time! Thank you to the Cantina, staff, and manager Allen
Do not ever go to Cantina Rio! The service was lousy! Waitress was inattentive and we had to keep going up to the bar to get service. We complained about the waitress and then when we left security ended up stopping us at the door claiming we didn't payour ticket. Luckily I paid with a card and had proof of payment. My friend had to pay twice because she paid in cash and did nothave proof. We were the last ones out the door so the waitress may have taken it then accused us of not paying especially sincewe complained about her. The band was great, but staff kept walking in front of the stage, where there were no tables, duringtheir show. Nachos were huge, but mediocre tasting. It was very slow on a Friday night which I can only assume is a testament totheir service! Get a better restaurant in there Santa Anna!
