This was day 28 and we were en route to Caen for the Portsmouth ferry and home. The weather had not been great over the previous 24 hours with rain and a blustery wind. On arrival a Beuzeville we parked in the main square which is just one big free car park. The walk of 5 minutes to this restaurant was pleasant as the sun had put in an appearance. We arrive a few minutes before midday. Although we planned to eat here we had been unable to make a reservation so we were pleased to be able to get a table. The menu was very extensive, plenty of choices but we had our hearts set on Galettes which is what we both ordered . So, two Steak haché Galette featuring the haché steak burger patty, cooked medium on a buck wheat pancake with some Emmental cheese, mushrooms and an egg. The raw egg had been cracked into the centre of the Galette, the Galette then had been closed up and cooked, thus cooking the egg which looked like a fried egg. The Galette was good (the burger was cooked medium and was extremely tender and tasty) and we both ate it all. It was also quite filling so we didn’t order dessert, which was just as well, as we needed to quickly get on our way to the ferry port because time was running out. The staff were all friendly but did not speak much English, fair enough. Our last meal on this France 2019 trip had been eaten.
Ugliest dark cheap decor managed by the most unwelcoming lady. Place was ice cold. Fire place ready with wood but not used (Creperie du feu de bois, joke! , half of radiators closed while customers are freezing, aso. We tried to complain… But no way…. It's just a dark jail house cafeteria. Crepes were not even tasty. So make a big detour.
We visited this little restaurant for dinner during a holiday in Beuzeville. A very pleasant, family-run restaurant, with excellent food. The menu gave plenty of choice with local specialities and good, no frills French country cooking. The wine list was good but we noticed that the locals were mostly drinking cider, again a local speciality. Would recommend booking a table in advance as it was busy with lots of locals eating there, always a good sign.
