We both enjoy a good hearty steak and it is always so much nicer when someone else cooks it really well. My husband mostly has the same - variation on the steak, but I'm working my way down the menu. I love their vegetable and salad sides and the portions of the main meal are very, very generous. They have a good drinks menu choice which is suitable to their establishment. I love my South African wines! I think the best item on the menu for me so far has been the ribs, but I haven't tried everything on offer yet. A criticism if any would be to make the creamy sauces a bit thicker and offer it in a small little jug instead of spread all over the meat. I hope they keep to the theme of the restaurant and not become too Aussie in it. People go there for something a bit different. After all these years it is still a great place to go to.
Fairly pricey and average food . The dessert ordered was not what it was supposed to be and over priced . Was not able to order a coffee at the end of the meal . The staff were not sure of items available and had to go and ask . Was a disappointing evening
We used to be regulars here with groups of up to 20 about because the food was amazing! It suddenly went downhill due to a chef change so we didn't visit for a while. Went back last night and couldn't have been more disappointed. The place used to be bustling on a Friday night and was virtually empty, the food came out undercooked, the menu selection was lacking and didn't have the favourite touches from days gone by. We found it overpriced and the food was unappealing but have to say the service was BRILLIANT! Our waitress was wonderful and the warmth and coziness of the outside bar was great. It's such a shame the interior now lacks the warmth it once had and the food just isn't worth it. I HATE leaving bad reviews and as this was my favourite restaurant for 10+ years it's harder to do but we won't be returning again.
We had an absolutely delicious meal on Saturday night. Our group (of 13) ordered everything from steak to the Kenge beef curry to the game tasting plate and everyone LOVED their meals. All dishes came out at the same time which generally doesn't happen with our large, family group. Thanks so much for the lovely evening. We will definitely be back.
Went with friends to Zebras on Saturday night. Had a drink at the outside bar before heading in to dinner. The beer and wine selection was minimal, with the first few wine selections being unavailable and third selection the staff member had to check stockStaff friendly and polite.A fairly large restaurant with probably 30 tables or so. Probably a third full the night we went We had the tasting plate which was good but could have had a bit more on it for the price ( staff did tell us how many pieces we'd get and they were spot on). Enjoyed the croc, however the Osterich was not to my taste!Curries, steaks and ribs were ordered. The steaks were cooked perfectly! My wife is a fussy eater the waiter did a great job in listening to how she liked it cooked, and the chef did a great job in cooking. All steaks come with your choice of salad, vegetables, chips or jacket potatoEveryone enjoyed their meals and food was plentifulThe interior is well done in an African theme although the toilets are straight out of a 1970's tennis club! Clean and colourful but need updating.Really enjoyed the experience and we'll be back
