Casa Loren - Bilbao

This is one of the small shops selling pintxos and beverages at the back of Ribera market. There are many counters to choose from so we only sampled a few pintxos from this one. They were pretty good. We had a pleasant but rather unremarkable tuna salad. I loved the cheese pintxos (possibly goat cheese) with a sweet sauce which was one of my favorites here.

Arrived pretty late (16:00) to eat the menu of the day, it was exposed on the blackboard.as usual. After asking if they still got everything and received yes, we decided to eat there. Ok food , service was lacking. They didn't have any dessert left (only got told when already finished eating), also they were out of knifes, so we got two forks instead. After having asked if they still serve the menu I expected something more honest and better. And seeing some waiter pick up the bread, that just fell on the floor of the market place , and putting it back in the basjet to serve- not such good impression ...

My husband and I shared two pintxos from this bar — one of many in the pintxos hall at the Ribera Market — and were extremely happy with our choices. This place had so many different items beautifully displayed on its counter that it became difficult to make a decision. We finally opted for a portion of cod, covered in a bright yellow sauce, and smoked salmon, decorated with anchovies, pickled herring, mango slices and long, green hot peppers, all on a slice of baguette-style bread. Both the taste and texture of each were superb. We ordered at the counter from a congenial man, who spoke perfect English. This bar is the first on the left when entering the left corridor of the pintxos hall from the main market on the first floor. As we sat at one of the myriad tables provided for customers in the hall, I noticed that many people never went further than Casa Loren. A line often formed there, with customers patiently waiting.

Comimos dos meno. paella y lubina a la brasa y alcachofas con jamón y pollo con patatas al muy buen vino todo y muy buen precio. muy buenos postres también y no puedo dejar de mencionar el impresionante pintxos bar que tienen a lo que mejor. exquisito trato por parte de Loren que personalmente nos asistió.
