Bilpin Afire

Saw the sign and wanted a coffee. Nice warm friendly place . Good service . Didn't eat anything but inviting meals on menu.

..tucked away in the village of Bilpin. A rather plain exterior masks a very simply stylish modern interior. There is an extensive range of dishes - entrees, numerous mains, pizzas, several sides and deserts (which we could not even consider), and a range of wines with by-the-glass option on most. Meals are prepared either in the wood-fire oven or an open wood-fire grill. There is a good range of gluten-free (indicated GF on the menu to make it easy). Prices seemed a bit steep, but we both had tandoori kingfish which we agreed was excellent value for money. Our waiter has obviously served in far more up-market establishments; he's a natural!

Great place for large or small gathering. Food excellent and save room for the upside down apple cake.

Firstly, i don't know how to pronounce 'Afire'. Is it Italian?This is one of very few options in the area, in fact the next place to the West is Mt Tomah Restaurant which is definitely not worth visiting. Back the other way to Kurrajong Heights you have The Archibald and Lochiel House, but they're about 15/20 mins drive away.The menu at Afire is extensive and the food is really good (we had pizza on one visit and potato wedges + apple cake on another). The staff were largely very friendly and helpful!Just beware of the prices. Pizzas are about $27, salads $20 and then steaks go right up to $60. This felt expensive compared to other places I've been in the Blue Mountains and surprisingly a lot more expensive than my local pubs in Eastern Sydney!Overall the place is an ok venue and the food is good, just not convinced it's worth the high prices.

Had a very disappointing lunch - the ambience of the place was quite deceiving on this occasion. The pork dish had a very acidic sauce in it which dominated the dish. My partner's beef pizza was covered in so much fat he left a pile of it to show the chef. No apologies or offers of a refund. No returning for us
