Bettola - Birmingham

Highly disappointed in the wood fired pizza. Even after server had it remade with less cheese it was soggy and had to be eaten with a fork.

Bettola is by far the best Italian Restaurant in Birmingham. We have eaten at many Italian restaurants in the Northeast and this restaurant is on par with some of the best! We used to live in Philly, so we know good Italian food. Our kids always want to eat here when in town. Our daughter was in B’ham on business from ATL and she brought a big group in to eat at Bettola and they all raved about the food. The pasta is amazing and I never leave there feeling stuffed. A friend of mine said she read that it’s because the chef imports his flour from Italy, so it isn’t at all the same as flour made in the US, and that’s why you don’t feel so stuffed when you leave. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Enjoyed an amazing lunch sitting outside. We felt like we were in Italy dining al fresco. We shared a burrata for 2. It arrived with this awesome bread. It looked like a pita on steroids, fluffy, doey and warm!! We also shared a roast chicken and tomato sandwich...yummy!! I would highly recommend Bettola!! Next time, we'll definitely try the wood fired pizza, which looked delicious!!

Picked up a to go order on August 29. The entree pasta dish was tasty but the portion size for $18.00 was a complete joke. I have felt better fed after taking communion. No bread, that’s an extra $4.00. I have never felt compelled to write a review before, I have eaten at almost all of the highly ranked restaurants in Birmingham. However I feel completely ripped off by the size of the portion for the amount paid. Will never darken their doorway again.

Made reservations for 5:45 on a Saturday. They weren't busy when we got there, but it picked up real quick. Super fast service, and the waiter was awesome. My husband had the lombatello and I had the pancetta e cipolla pizza with added mushrooms. Both were amazing. And the tiramisu was as well. A+ restaurant.
