We went in not expecting to find many gluten free options but to our amazement most of the menu either has a gluten free option or can be made gluten free. My partner is also allergic to peanuts and these could be left out without issues and without compromising on flavour. We had the salt and pepper aubergine to start with and we devoured it that quickly I didn't even take a photo of it! But the melt-in-the-mouth middle is perfectly counterbalanced by the thin crispy batter. We then had chicken curry and pork noodles for our mains and we were absolutely stuffed. We finished off our meal with a delicious condensed milk coffee which leaves you feeling like you've just had a light dessert. The restaurant itself is modern, with a lovely atmosphere. It's kept very clean (no sticky tables in here) and the staff are very attentive and warm.
Food was fantastic so the restaurant was full. I had BBQ pork with noodles (Bun thit nuong)r which was delicious (but the noodles were just a bit too thin compared to those I would normal have in Saigon) My only criticism of the place is the music, because it just didn't create a Vietnamese atmosphere as it was salsa /South American. The staff were friendly and welcoming.
Bahn mi, this is good If Eat Vietnam is a key ingredient to creating Stirchley’s bohemian, retro, vibe. From the outside, you could dismiss this comfortable restaurant as an old sweat shop. Look a little closer, the shop front is a work of retro art. Even though it’s an independent, it has it’s own tag line “fish sauce is not for everyone”. Enter and the behold the cool advertisements. Staff attended to me, given my sheepish, lost demeanour. I was taken to browse the extensive specials blackboard. The staff member walked me through the board of exciting dishes. Such is the range, it can be overwhelming. In many ways, I love. I ordered the mala cauliflower, hispi cabbage and Salt Pepper Turmeric Fried Fish Noodles. Each dish was so fresh, light and vibrant. The mala cauliflower had bite crunch. The light curry sauce complemented the dish sensationally. I felt well looked after by the staff. All meals were served expediently. Even the chefs popped over to serve the food. I highly recommend Eat Vietnam. An exciting western take on eastern cuisine.
This was our first visit following a recommendation from a friend. Booking was seamless. The menu, whilst brief and supplemented by a board of 'specials ' covered all dietary considerations. The food we chose was delicious and very well presented. The restaurant was lively and customers were very obviously having a good time enjoying the food. Whilst waiting for our order we saw many very attractive looking dishes being delivered to other tables increasing our anticipation of the arrival of our order. We will definitely return. Service was efficient and our waitress gave us some guidance around ordering. A really enjoyable, memorable eating experience.
