We were greeted by a friendly receptionist and loved the Victorian style of the building. Our room on the first floor was spacious with a comfortable king size bed and a nice bathroom. The breakfast room, lobby, and sitting room were all beautifully decorated in Victorian style. The free Wifi was efficient and we had a good night's sleep with no traffic noise. The staff were very friendly and attentive to guests. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay and would definitely recommend the hotel to others.
This is a review for a hotel that only serves breakfast. We stayed for 2 nights for a family funeral wake. The hotel is old and does not have any elevators. The staff were all very friendly and eager to help, although some could benefit from more training. The rooms were clean, tidy, and slightly outdated but still comfortable. The breakfast was excellent, though the bacon was overcooked. The service was exceptional. The wake buffet was good with no complaints. The only issue was with the bar. It was not well-stocked for the large number of guests at the funeral. They ran out of draught beer, cider, and had a poor whisky selection. They also lacked popular wine options. They did make an effort to accommodate by getting a bottle of bourbon for the widow and putting out free beers. However, they need to consider the preferences of modern guests for a higher rating. Despite this, I would definitely stay again.
I have wanted to stay here for a while. It looks oldey worldy from the outside and appears cosey. When we arrived there was a very loud party playing really booming music. There is no way we could have slept for an afternoon kip. We...had been offered a free drink on arrival but the unusual bar times meant we couldn’t get the free drink anyway. The breakfast in the morning was not great with tinned tomatoes and tinned mushrooms. The staff were the best part about this stay, they were very friendly and helpful but this didn’t make up for the low quality in other areas. Some of the main reception rooms are pretty but the bedrooms generally looked tired and outdated. This place was good enough for one night but I wouldn’t want to stop here again.
Stayed on Wednesday night as somewhere to stay whilst on a night out. The hotel is in a good location, ample car parking, nice friendly check in. My room wax immaculate and big, more classic than modern but had everything I needed. Good array of...drinks at the bar served by a friendly barman and on return a great nights sleep. I didn’t have breakfast or dinner but enjoyed my stay. Thank you for the hospitality.
Upon checking in on Sunday August at was offered no information regarding the breakfast times or if any food was available by the male overseeing reception duties. But both I and my nephew were told by another male in attendance that women could...be made available if required. Room was large but nothing like the photographs indicated on the website which must have be taken at least years ago. Every room was badly in need of a face-lift. All painted surfaces were tired and dull; wall paper was cracked on faded; bathroom ripping out and everything replacing. Shower was woeful and required replacing; shower screen was an ancient plastic sheet. The ventilator in the bathroom was in reality an outlet to the adjoining room and it became patently obvious what was going on next door. Breakfast on Monday August was served late. It was a mediocre cold serving of basic food items which were poorly presented served by a restaurant assistant wearing a tee shirt. Breakfast on Tuesday September was served on time. Diners were efficiently attended to by Elisha who was professionally turned out, courteous and looked after diners in an amiable, business-like manner. The deliciously cooked breakfast was prepared, cooked and presented by top chef Damian. Most of the staff were well turned-out and conducted themselves in a professional manner. I would suggest a Mystery Guest visit in order to record the standards at this hotel.
