The value for money was exceptional, with a great selection to choose from. The only slight disappointment was that they were out of tadka dal, but the chili paneer, basmati rice, and chana masala made up for it. The meal was accompanied by a fantastic real ale and a basket of poppadums. The portion sizes were just right, and I would recommend sharing as the choice is so good. I paid £20 for the whole meal, which was worth every penny for a solo diner like myself.
The vegetarian food at this restaurant is absolutely delicious! It is well-seasoned and served in generous portions. I have dined here three times and each time I have been extremely satisfied. The chaats, in particular, are especially delightful.
I was visiting Birmingham for the weekend and decided to stop by this restaurant initially just for a drink on the way back to my hotel. The menu on the table had some fantastic gluten-free options and plenty of vegetarian choices, so I ended up staying for lunch. The food was excellent and tasted amazing, and it was served promptly. There was also a nice selection of alcohol-free drinks available, and I appreciated that the restaurant is dog-friendly.
Nothing about my visit gave me any reason to return, so I'm doing the right thing and instead of explaining to them in person I set up a trip advisor account to leave this review. There was a guy who was stood close enough behind the bar that he gave me the impression he worked there deep in conversation with someone, maybe he didn't work there which would explain why he didn't acknowledge or care that a queue was forming, but if he didn't work there, why was he behind the bar? Eventually (about 4 minutes) another guy came out to serve me and he was perfectly pleasant, Thanks guy. Problem is, once we got the drinks and sat down we were almost overwhelmed by this weird smell, like a cross between gym changing room, damp socks, and line cleaner, with a hint of care home/charity shop. Overwhelmed is a bit strong, but I couldn't focus fully on conversation so it was definitely distracting. Then, the main bit, and here's why I didn't say anything at the time, to begin with there was no way of knowing, but the further I got into my pint the more I realised the inside of the glass stank. Like nothing I have ever smelt before so I can't describe this really, the closest I can think of is smokey bacon crisps and coach seats, but this could have been influenced by the overall atmosphere. Anyway, We only popped in to write a birthday card before going somewhere else, ran out of time and had to neck our drinks which took some effort. Further to this, the table was noticeably tacky, not cheap, sticky, Definitely not somewhere you'd want to be writing a birthday card on, luckily they had menus on the table so we used one of those as a sheet. TL;DR could have been much better. Easy fixes though.
Came here to try the naan bombs and have a draught beer or two. I opted for the Keema Naan Bomb which was a naan bread with onion, mint and chutney with cheese and keema on it, my girlfriend opted for the street chaat one which was like a deconstructed cheesy samosa on a naan bread. We also had some chilli fries which were mega. The food was very good and delicious. Will definitely come back and try the new menu.
