Wu Shuang - Birmingham

They offer three types of Hong Kong-style French toast, as well as a half-and-half noodle dish featuring beef tripe and brisket! The baked pork buns looked fantastic, but we chose the black pepper steak casserole rice instead, and the meat was incredibly tender without any of that overpowering taste some places fail to remove. We noticed their pineapple buns were huge and generously served with a thick pat of butter, though we didn’t indulge in them this time. A special mention must go to the service; despite it being a hectic lunch hour, our waitress was one of the friendliest and most thoughtful I’ve ever encountered. When I expressed interest in the steak casserole rice, she suggested it would be better to order it as a set for a better deal, and then inquired about what drinks and sides I wanted. When I mentioned wanting another drink, she suggested ordering it individually with no pressure, just a genuine focus on what would be best for the customer. Moreover, she made sure our sweet dishes arrived after our savory ones, which is a nice touch you don’t often expect from a fast-casual dining place. The restrooms were clean and compliant with COVID guidelines too! We traveled from London to visit Wu Shuang (or Mo Sheung in Cantonese) and would happily do so again. It’s a place where you’re guaranteed to leave with a smile and no regrets.

Very classic hong kong style caffe, that offers all chaan ten favorites. one of my favorites in birmingham. there chewed cuddly rice bowl never disappointed.

The food is so nice that it reminds me of my home town.
