The Saxon Inn - Bishop Auckland

Had a weekend at this hotel and what a fabulous place it is ! The staff were amazing and a special mention to Margaret who really looked after all our needs . The food was lovely and plenty of it and the rooms were pretty very clean and had all the amenities plus some extras . The bonus is that just across the road is the oldest Saxon Church 675AD which you can collect a key from the number 48 house and go inside . Great weekend fab hotel I give it five stars and will come back again !

Just back from a two night stay. Lovely pub, friendly staff, good food. Bedrooms are modern, clean comfortable. Will definitely stay again

Since I was last in the establishment it has had a complete refurbishment. No longer is it drab and dark but brightly decorated. I called in for Sunday roast, which was well cooked and plentiful. Service was prompt and staff attentive. I would certainly recommend it and would return. I had heard good things about it which prompted my return visit. Escomb is at a dead on so not quite the place you pass by en route to elsewhere.

Hidden Gem Really nice rooms at very competitive prices Just across from the UK’s oldest complete Saxon church Good bar and the good inc breakfast was excellent. Very friendly staff

Absolutely fantastic place. Immaculately clean. Rooms fantastic and comfy and excellent staff. Best breakfast we have ever had in a hotel. Room rates are fantastic aswell. Deffo go again
