The omelette, strawberry waffles or pastry selections are are fantasticoptions. Don?t be afraid to ask for a fancy coffee in a place like this, I was, but my husband got a cappuccino and enjoyed it!
After my mom's group visited and highly recommended, we made the drive for an early dinner. There are 2 huge dining rooms and large rooms for parties. The building is huge, but each dining area is comfortable size. Our waitress was welcoming. There werefew customers at 4:15 Thursday. A great time for having the dining room to ourselves. Mom ate around noon in a full dining roomthe day before. My shrimp stir fry and my wife's senior salmon dinner was delicious and plentiful. The $20 per plate was veryreasonably priced. After dinner we spent as much on a large variety of bakery items. Everything looked delicious.
The restaurant is tucked away in a beautiful location. I ordered the club sandwich with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was large and delicious, however, it could have been better if the bread had been toasted. The fries were also tasty with a crunchexterior and softy center. The service was good and the place felt cozy and comfortable. The bakery also looked amazing and I'llhave to come back to try more.
Been here a few times over the years. Glad its still around. Lovely large country restaurant and bakery. Staff is friendly, food is good. We come here for the bakery. Hubby loves rye. We visit the museum to see his great great grandfather then stop for ameal. Lots of outdoor benches to relax on.
Not sure how this place made 100 years as far as ???? bread making goes. I got Pumpernickel (left) and Sourdough loaves. I thought I was eating Wonder Bread! Pumpernickel is a dark rye, not this. Sourdough was mediocre at best. One loaf marked 100%Wheat not whole grain. All wheat bread is 100% wheat ???? as far as I know. No whole grain offered. Peanut butter cookiesnothing to write home about either. We gave the bread away rather than feeding the birds. Big selection of other baked ????????sweets but didn't try them. Looked good though.
