The staff had PPE and kept their distance in-between serving us also, very friendly staff. Will be returning!
We had our Xmas meal Here with our family and friends at great cost to us and unlike previous visits it was poor in every way.. The service was excellent however the food was terrible and kids portions were the same as the adults?? Their We're No roast potatoes and the veg was something processed and flat packed in a square format??? tasted weird and was unsure on what it was to be honest, this was just not what we expected and certainly not a traditional roast you would expect elsewhere for Fraction of the price!! It Wasn't particularly warm and wasn't like the ones we have had in the past from here. To sum our experience... it was expensive, cold and had better meals from a convenience meal from tesco to be fair. On this festive occasion was not up to scratch I'm afraid, so for this reason it deserves a review. Sorry if it sounds harsh but was not what we expect for the money we paid for and Will be thinking we're to go in future but it won't be here I'm afraid to tell you.
My mother and I visited here for an afternoon tea, which did not disappoint. My mother and I combined go to a lot of afternoon teas and this occasion was up there with the best of them. First and foremost the service was excellent, staff were regular in and out of the tea room, but not overpowering. When we needed something, nothing was too much trouble and the staff remembered and took the time to check in regularly to check that we were enjoying the food and if we needed top ups, etc. The sandwiches were perfect, simple but very well executed. The scones were home-made as was the cream and the jam. 10/10. The top tier of small cakes probably do with a rethink, however we ate every single one of them so they cannot have been bad : We will be visiting again, but with different people this time. See you all again soon! KH.
Visited today and service, staff and most importantly the afternoon tea was lovely. It was nice to have several types of sandwiches and not over faced by big lumps of cake. My only criticism was the coffee was very weak hence 4 stars. I believe you can ring the hotel directly to get the deal and I definitely will be!
I’ve only ever stayed in 2 hotels in Darwen and the only reason I stayed in the first one is because I hadn’t found The Whitehall hotel yet! The staff are amazing and so friendly and always welcoming and accommodating! Breakfast is amazing... you can literally ask for anything you like, can’t ask for anything better that! Dinners are just as amazing, the menu changes frequently and provides a small but great variety of meals! During December, the menu had a Turkey dinner with all the trimmings and when I made a comment about Yorkshire puddings, even though they weren’t apart of ‘all the trimmings’ the chef made some for me!! Rooms are comfortable and spacious.... providing all the facilities that anyone would require! From speaking to others, I know The Whitehall has long standing customers of over 14 years! And that’s no surprise to me! Unfortunately, I only stay at the hotel for work so never get to explore as much as I would like but even if I was choosing a hotel for personal stays I would still choose The Whitehall. Great staff, great rooms and great food.... which obviously means a great hotel!
