Bletley is a charming old village and the pub itself dates back to 1388, maintaining its character. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, quickly showing me their vegan options on the menu which could be easily customized (with the exception of a couple of fish dishes). We both opted for the "fish" and chips, made with banana blossom as they had more vegan customers that day than non-vegan! We were not disappointed by the delicious meal. I had the vegan roast and my partner enjoyed the veggie nachos (which could be made vegan by omitting the cheese). The roast was especially tasty, with a fantastic mushroom wellington. For dessert, we shared a scrumptious chocolate and salted caramel torte. It was evident that the chef was passionate about vegan cuisine and was happy to discuss it with us. The menu features a variety of vegan options including cake, lasagne, roast dinner, nachos, and a selection of desserts. We definitely plan to return to try the vegan fish and chips and would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area or those looking for a pleasant day trip in Surrey.
After making a reservation at the restaurant, I arrived only to find a "for sale" sign and cobwebs covering the doors and windows. It seems that the hotel owner is not able to admit that the business is no longer operating. My cell phone battery was dying and I had to call a taxi to take me back to the airport, find a hotel, and pay double the agreed rate. If guests plan on staying at this seemingly charming village away from the airport, I highly recommend calling ahead to confirm that the business is still in operation.
A few weeks ago, I made a reservation at this restaurant for a room. However, when I arrived this afternoon, I was shocked to find it closed and locked. I was relieved that I hadn't paid in advance. I spent the rest of the afternoon searching for alternative accommodation. I am extremely disappointed to say the least.
I was with my friend in this hotel. the owner and his partner were extremely helpful and friendly. at 31. we arrived late in the hotel and were very hungry and the hotel restaurant was closed. the gentleman has led us to a... Indian farewell. we bought the food and brought it to the hotel. we were offered to sit in the restaurant, gave us an excellent service as if the food was served by them. the morning breakfast was excellent. full English breakfast and there is the possibility for continental breakfast if you want. I can't mistake this hotel although it seems within 2-3 stars area, but service was great and there are free parking as well. we checked on 1st august.
We had an excellent meal with great service in very clean environment pub with enormous character and steep in the history we will definitely return thank you.
