Rob Dob's Restaurant Bar - Bloomington

Two weeks ago, my husband and I went to Rob Don's for dinner. We were the only customers in the restaurant, aside from a large group that was being seated. Our waitress was friendly and our entrees arrived quickly, within 5-7 minutes. However, my husband was shocked to find his chicken Marsala meal was undercooked. We were too concerned for our safety to have it remade, so we cancelled our orders and left. We will not be returning to Rob Don's.

The restaurant is highly overrated and expensive. The staff is friendly, especially the waitress who was great. The appetizers were pricey and the calamari was unpleasant, with a burnt taste. The onion rings and sauce, however, were delicious. The prime rib was cooked perfectly and had wonderful seasoning. The kids' spaghetti was mediocre, and the BBQ chicken was okay. The total bill came to almost $200 for 2 adults and 2 kids.

Great service and great food. The calamari was delicious with a beautiful balsamic topping. The Brussels sprouts that people rave about were not at all what I expected;the candied bacon and Parmesan gave it a fantastic flavor but the breadcrumbsabsolutely ruined the texture. It was a bit of a soupy mess with weird consistency. The cheese curds were melt in your mouthwonderful! Loved the breading on those! The old fashioneds were delicious and strong enough to taste the bourbon but sweetenough to enjoy. Main course was the Iowa filet mignon and it was cooked to perfection and served with a generous amount ofbutter on top (much appreciated! . Potato wedges were decent but a bit overcooked however my dining partner enjoyed them. Ceasarsalad was very good and perfectly portioned. Dessert we had the butterscotch bread pudding which came with a scoop of vanillabean ice cream and all I have to say is WOW! Needs one additional scoop of ice cream but the flavors were on point, it was hotand melted the ice cream and got EVEN BETTER! Just order the bread pudding, you won't regret it! The creme brulee was fantasticand garnished with fresh berries. A nice touch! Scraping the bottom of the dish we could see the real vanilla bean seeds. A signof high quality ingredients! We are definitely returning for special occasions and cannot wait to try more items on themenu! Wait staff were very attentive and kept our drinks refilled and pace of meal was perfect. We were surprised at speed ofdelivery of food and drinks to the table. We had a 5:30 reservation to beat the rush.

I visited this restaurant for the first time and had a wonderful experience. The service was exceptional and the food was delicious. We didn't have to wait long for our meals to arrive. We will definitely be returning in the future.

On a girls trip and we wanted a nice quick lunch. This was the perfect choice! The staff were all very friendly, the food was fast and delicious. The place was beautiful and very clean. Being a restaurant employee myself I pay attention to the smallthings and I can say this place seems to be very well run. And best off all the employees looked to be enjoying themselves!!!
