If you're looking for a fresh and tasty bite away from the bustle of main street Blowing Rock, Grilled Cheese Cafe is a must stop! It's tucked away in its own courtyard, which is perfect during COVID, and there wasn't an hour wait to get seated for lunch. The owners are delightful and put so much heart into each sandwich they make. It's truly inspired grilled cheese. I had the regular French and my friend had the gluten free version. Both were so tasty with a complex flavor profile built with brie, gruyere, provolone, arugula, pear, and fig preserves. Be sure to stop by and experience grilled cheese like you never have before!
Great grilled Cuban sandwich, even better that I could get it on gluten-free bread! Cute patio dining and they are dog friendly. Limited menu, but hey, that should be obvious based on their name!
Nothing special going on here. I had lunch here on a Wednesday, and while I was not expecting a gourmet experience, I was expecting something much more creative and, sadly, tasty than I received. When I placed my order, the woman (who I believe was a co-owner) was as unexcited about my presence as the nearby trash can. Absolutely no personality, and not even a Thank You. I ordered the American with tomato. It came out looking for the world like it was grilled in a pannini press. The mix of American and provolone tasted like pure Velveeta. Unless you want a bland pannini-press cheese sandwich, I suggest you consider other options.
I loved their French grilled cheese sandwich with fig pear. Hubby loved the Cuban with pork ham and pickles. Small shop with no indoor area but enough outdoor seating. No wait when other places on Main have long lines. Can’t wait to return again. Thanks Michelle!
