We were a group of 10 and have eaten here before. And overall it is pricy but average. The service is relaxed - I would almost call it slow but I think they are trying to create an atmosphere of laid back dinning but the serving staff should still be attentive and not need to be told when to proceed to the next stage of the meal or ask about the cheque. We got our table at 5pm and left after 7pm. The quantity of food is definitely focused on cost savings. See the calamari that was brought, for $14, I was expecting more than a mouthful when it arrived - with the fork in the sauce (see photo) and the limited quantity, I assumed it was a mistake - but asking two of the staff they assured me that this is the right order and not leftovers from another table. When the main meal arrived, the quantities were reasonably, but mostly due to the amount of rice or pasta on the plate. Everyone ate everything on their plates except the young teens - but nothing worth taking home as leftovers. I had the salmon which was nicely prepared and left me with room for an ice cream at the dairy. If you want to sit by the water or arrive by boat, this is an ok spot, just skip the over priced appetizers and go for ice cream for desert.
Four of us had dinner at Water's Edge Restaurant and we all enjoyed our meals immensely. The dinner special was fresh Pickerel. It was cooked to perfection. Some had appetizers and dessert as well. No complaints from anyone. Staff is friendly and very attentive. The restaurant is on the Trent Severn Waterway so as you are eating dinner (or lunch,) you have a lovely view of boats coming and going.I would highly recommend this restaurant!
I must eat gluten free for medical reasons - I am used to choosing from only one or two possibilities on any menu, but at Water's Edge at least 75% of menu options were or could be made gluten free! They were also very knowledgeable about what modifications would need to be made, and when my pork tenderloin arrived, everything was delicious! Atmosphere is lovely. Highly recommend. (But reserve early, as they are so good they fill up quickly!)
My husband and I went to the Water's Edge restaurant for dinner. The food was AMAZING! I had the pickerel which came with a very nice rice pilaf. My husband enjoyed the lamb shank. The waitress was very pleasant. The owner had the baby ducklings scrambling to her. It was very cute, but I wish she didn't feed them bread. Perhaps she could give them some seed. Her intentions were good, but I have heard that bread is not a good food for ducks or any other wild fowl.
