4 Hills Oyster Grill - Bonifay

Not impressed! After my first visit when the oysters on the half shell were actually warm, I thought I’d give it another chance. Today, I ordered the lobster bisque and hand-battered mushrooms. Instead, I was served a soup with shredded imitation crab meat and frozen fried mushrooms. All of this cost me $19! What a disappointment.

The food was underwhelming. The buffet selection was limited, especially when it was busy. The service left much to be desired. Although we had heard about the poor service beforehand, we decided to give it a try anyway.

I ordered the New York strip, but I also noticed they offer grilled gator and grilled frog legs, making it a tough choice. I asked if I could add the grilled frog legs to my main dish, and the restaurant was accommodating, allowing me to do so with a small upcharge. It turned out perfectly! The steak was seasoned, but I would prefer it without any seasoning next time—just salt and pepper would suffice. The grilled frog legs were remarkable; I can tell you that not many places serve them. In my experience, I've only encountered grilled frog legs at three places, and this is one of them. This unique food and cooking style is why I give the restaurant 4.5 stars. The service was good, and this has now become my new favorite spot. Next time, I plan to try the grilled gator, fried mullet, and snake bite.

There was a bit of a wait after we placed our order, but the staff was friendly and attentive throughout our visit. The food was very good, particularly the red snapper, which was one of the best-flavored pieces of fish I’ve ever had. My only complaint is that it was served on heavily buttered Texas toast, which overshadowed the wonderful flavor of the fish. My kids had a few complaints about the chicken fingers; although they looked big and appetizing, I thought they tasted a bit like they had been cooked in fish grease. This might be something only kids would notice, so perhaps they could consider using a different cooking method in the future.

The seafood here is absolutely delicious! I really enjoy the sweet potato fries with their special sauce. The hamburgers are great too! Everything I've tried has been really good. If I were traveling on the interstate, I would definitely want to stop for this special treat!
