I used to frequent this restaurant for coffee, but one day I decided to try a plain cheese toastie. When I declined a premade ham and cheese toastie, I was pressured into getting it instead.
We were blown away by the incredible find when we entered and stumbled upon this hidden gem of a restaurant.
Perfectly placed on High Street, Fat Penguin is your classic local cafe. The decor is warm and inviting and walking into the beaming faces of the staff makes you smile yourself! There is nothing worse than getting a bad coffee and, though even the best baristas make mistakes every now and then, I have still never had a bad coffee at this place. Now, onto the food, if you are not in the mood to sit down, they offer a solid range of delectable paninis, salads, rolls and other typical on the run treats. And, while they are great, sitting down gives you the chance to sample from the well constructed menu. The benedict is brilliant, the pancakes are perfect, the green breakfast bowl is grand and, being a millennial, their take on the smashed avo is superb. Of course, they are just the items I have tried. Take yourself there and try them for yourself, of explore the plethora of other choices. As the saying goes, "you don't make friends with salad", though I think Fat Penguin probably still would.
Love this, love cafe, love atmosphere. Great time for lunch with my friends. Returning SOON, I swear.
