Stopped for lunch on a warm day. Ordered clam chowder and sparkling water. The sparkling water was room temperature, no glass of ice was offered. The worse part was the large lump of flour in my clam chowder. Its too bad because the clam chowder had good flavor, but a clump of flour is not acceptable.
Super Delish!! I literally stop here every time I’m in Cambridge visiting my son, which is likely taking away from other experiences, lol, but I can always rely on their great buttery lobstah roll to make my day. I’ve eaten many rolls as such in my day, from various vendors, and find these restaurants roll to be soft and sweet the right way (lightly toasted) and the lobster is fresh flavorful with the butter layer never being too absurd. The butter honestly can’t be too overwhelming, or it creates unnecessary bread moisture causing for either a bad eating experience where the sandwich falls apart or creates a soggy bread texture in your mouth which is likely the worst of the 2 situations. I always get the tacos as well and it’s frankly less of a meal and more like an appetizer (only 3), but it has this simple, fresh and yummy taste that’s a lighter option if you’re not too hungry. This trip I had to leave a review because the service was exceptional. We got stuck in major traffic and arrived in town minutes to their closing. We called the restaurant and they totally looked out for us!! Made all our requests and prepared them perfectly. At the end of any evening, you know people want to go home and I truly appreciate them making an exception and getting the order in before closing the kitchen.Parking: Newbury is a shopping strip, so parking is difficult/non-existent most hours once it starts getting active.
I really wanted to like it more! Maybe they are understaffed, so I could be more understanding. The lobster roll I had was delicious! But the fries were over cooked and dry. We asked for water refills, and never got them. I ordered a coke and it came after I was halfway through the meal. I will say, the lobster was tasty and a deal! But overall it felt lacking.
Wanted to have an authentic Boston Lobster roll and why not go to the place that has it in their name? It’s a small quiet little place in a basement walkout in Back Bay with some patio seating. Very attentive staff. The dining area was clean but very simple. Not a lot of unique atmosphere in this place. The lobster roll was delicious. Be prepared that this is not a cheap place to eat. The price shocked me a little, but it was very good.
