Then come on down to Reubens Burger Bistro one block off Pearl St. Sports bar meets some mighty burgers and much more in a cozy and energetic environment. Mac and cheese lovers can design their own perfect mac, and if a few beers will hit the spot, catch a flight of incredible beer choices! The burgers have cool names inspired by the cyclist world . We both chose the Morgul Bismark, swathed in tangy BBQ sauce and a smattering of onion straws on brioche buns. I wish that the sauce and onion straws had been evenly distributed , as I didn't get a taste of either until I was almost halfway through eating it. We always have to peruse the dessert menus when we eat out, and the GF flourless torte really stood out. Small slice but huge on flavor, and the ice cream created a perfect foil for its decadent richness. That's how you do it!
It was soooooooooooood good! I struggled to choose between the mahi mahi tacos or a burger. Thanks to the waitresses recommendation and a coin toss from Siri, I decided to go with the burger. After all, you can't visit a place that claims to be the best burger place in Colorado and not try their burgers. I don't remember the name of the burger I got. I just remember that it was on the right-hand side and it was the second burger from the bottom. I think it started with an F. The next time I visit Boulder, I'll be back!
If time is not of the essence for you and you're big on beer, then Rueben's just might be the place for you. I came here for lunch once with my husband and a bunch of his coworkers, since it's one of the group's favorites. I should be honest, though. The boys love this place for the beer selection and less for the food and service. In fact, it is advised to order your food and ask for the check at the time you're ordering, because you could be SOL if you have a meeting to run to after lunchtime. Though I'm not much of a burger person, I LOVED being able to customize my burger to my liking. Pretzel bun, please! And onion rings on the side, please! Be warned that the burgers are heavy enough to sink you into a food coma afterwards. To feel a wee bit better about the heavy meal, might I suggest the Mountain Biker with the cucumber, arugula, and avocado?
The server should have gone out of her way to make up for some mishaps and she didn't do anything. Two of us ordered two beers that were no longer available from the menu. The server suggested some alternatives, and then she came back to tell us that one of those suggestions she made was actually not available either and brought by two samples for my friend to try...neither of those beers were anything like we he ordered...as if the server really had zero knowledge of beer at all. My friend opted for what I ordered and then it took another 5+ mins to get the beer. Really? At this point could you please hurry and bring him the drink after he's already been told three things he wants aren't available and he's basically just trying to get anything at this point. His beer came the same time as the food which is ridiculous. The same guy ordered sweet potato fries instead of regular ones and what do you know, regular ones show up. You can't make up how poor his dining experience was. The server came by and quickly said we could get a basket of sweet potato fries. She was shooting 0 for 4 for him. And when the check came, I would have hoped for a courtesy gesture of taking off his beer or the upcharge for sweet potato fries that she messed up! You're going to leave on a $5 beer and $1.50 up charge on the bill after what was your fault? Is $6.50 that important that you couldn't just do a solid and we would walk out feeling better about it all? Figure out the way you handle customers. Food was decent. My fish and chips were fine, but the fish was pretty fishy tasting...had to use generous tartar and malt vinegar to mask...the fries were good. But nothing I would venture back for.
There are lots of great happy hour spots in Boulder, but this one has become my primary choice due to their location, the high quality of service, the availability of space at the bar, and the great prices on both food and drink. They have a particularly excellent beer selection with some choices being half off during their Halfy Hour . Appetizers are also half off, which makes for a great deal. Certain choices such as the fries (sweet potato and regular! and chicken tenders are particularly well-portioned for the price. I also enjoy the french onion soup and the quesadilla. I 've actually not yet tried the burgers since I tend to come just for happy hour, but my husband tells me they are excellent. For me, this place gets full marks for the reasons mentioned above. An excellent burger would simply be a bonus. So, come one and all, beer and burger afficionados, passers by, and cheap bastards like myself or are either unwilling or unable to pass up a great deal. This place is excellent.
