If you are within an hour drive from this place, a visit here is a necessity. Of course, this talented cook solidifies the art that is fine French cuisine.
A beautiful, off-the-beaten stretch château, just a stone's throw from Loudun, charming from the first moment. The interior is true, quirky French country decor, with every centimeter room covered with pieces that clearly mean something for the owner/cook, M. Michel Belcourt. I have densed there alone, accompanied by my little dog, who apparently enchanted this animal lover. The man is an 80-year-old-year-old who apparently treats everything from cooking to home alone, as I saw no other soul that helped him. And with all this he is charming and friendly and chatting. He greeted me with a glass of champagne, a piece of land with (I think pistachios and a beautiful generous puff pastry slice, warm, with a tomato jam of any kind and melt a slice of cheese while I went through the menu. A basket of what seemed to be very fresh bread, also scored with pistachios that convinced me that he made both bread and pâte. I pampered with his Foie-Gras-Starter, the a little smoked duck (magret fumé, which was incredibly tender - the court did not disappoint. And he gave me a small glass of wine suitable for foie grass. I was not able to get my main choice, Scallops, as he explained that they were from the season, and he convinced me to have a kind of stew with a kind of tournedeau of boneless chickens with foie gras (yes, more foie, but he explained it was a completely different kind, and it was actually easier. The chicken is not my visit to a restaurant, but it was very nice. I skipped cheese and dessert for lack of space. All in all, it was a truly unforgettable evening and its charm and love for food is what attracts people. I mentioned the B
