Like going here because it 's the fit-out from the original Edward Street Shingle Inn that so many of us who grew up in Brisbane have fond memories of, and I love old buildings. The food these days though is pretty ordinary and the service can be also. They are a franchise operation these days and some of the food (cakes etc) seems as though it 's prepared centrally off-site and brought in each day.<br/ We 've only ever had lunch a few times after going to the Museum of Brisbane in the City Hall, but we have seen people having afternoon tea as well. <br/ The booths are original and quite small, so could be a bit 'squishy ' if you 're a larger person. <br/ Worth going for the old world atmosphere, but not for the food as it 's OK, but nothing special.<br/ <br/
Had lunch here with my mum in April and found the service a little slow. Food was really nice though and good portions for the price. Would have loved some water brought to the table
Love their butterfly cake, pretty awesome. Great place for a quiet chat of a short break from all the shopping
The waiters are professional and polite with a touch of spunk. The food is delicious and well presented. A pleasure to dine here.
